Two new TISA Specifications extend TMC capability

Two specifications developed in TISA have now been completed and adopted as official specifications through the processes of the Committees and Steering Board. They should be taken into account by TISA members when deploying TMC products and services, and will be incorporated into future versions of the ISO/CEN 14819 series of International Standards at the next opportunity.

The two specifications, available to TISA members, are:

• Safety (DEWS) Messages for TMC, developed in 2008 based on request from North American Traffic Working Group; an additional set of messages for TMC services, to support a specific set of safety-related events. Published as TISA Specification 12 January 2009.
• Additional Danish (Bridge and Toll) Messages for TMC. developed in 2004 and revisited in 2008 based on request from Danish Roads Department; an additional set of messages for TMC services, to support a specific set of conditions related to toll bridges and winter driving conditions. Published as TISA Specification 12 January 2009.
