TISA Special Session at ITS World Congress
TISA will coordinate a Special Interest Session at this year's 16th ITS World Congress, in the city of Stockholm in September.
The session, "SIS07 - TPEG - an essential toolkit for achieving the objectives of the EC ITS Action Plan?" will take place on Friday 25th September in room A5 from 09:00 to 10:30.
The EC ITS Action Plan promotes real-time traffic and travel information services. It addresses specifically EU-wide RTTI services, the continuity of ITS services for passengers/freight in transport corridors and urban/interurban regions, and the free provision of safety-related information.
The first TPEG services have now been launched. TPEG technology promises to be a key element in meeting these objectives. TPEG provides a toolkit for applications including detailed urban traffic information with on-the-fly location referencing. TPEG supports the provision of RTTI services mixing paid commercial information with free safety-related information through a flexible Conditional Access framework. Without this, business model issues kill the concept of ‘free safety services’ in RTTI.
What other contributions can TPEG and TMC make towards the ITS Action Plan objectives? What provisions are needed in the ITS Action Plan and directives, in order to remove bottlenecks? An essential session detailing the latest scope and potential of TPEG technology.
