BE-TMC - a new TMC service for Belgium

TISA member Be-Mobile has launched its commercial TMC service in Belgium.

The service, 'BE-TMC', provides nationwide coverage for highways and secondary roads. Data for the service comes from a range of sources, including GSM tracking, GPS probe vehicles and Government / other reported incidents and disturbances. The service uses Conditional Access encryption; customers require a BE-TMC enabled device (portable GPS device, built-in car GPS...) in order to be able to use the service.

The existing free TMC service in Belgium, operated by the Flemish and Wallon ministries and broadcast via VRT and RTBF radio stations, remains available without change to owners of compatible devices.
